Facilitation - Qualifications

Facilitation Experience.  Joe McMahon has served as a facilitator on a variety of projects including matters for government agencies, corporations or other business entities, and non-governmental organizations.  Such assignments have varied from facilitating short meetings to multi-day retreats and multi-session facilitated negotiations.  

In 2005-06, Joe worked with various federal, state, tribes, and nongovernmental organizations to co-facilitate disputes on the Missouri River.

In 2004, Joe facilitated various working and negotiating groups in efforts to resolve disputes (technical and legal) concerning the Lowry Landfill Superfund site.

In 2004, Joe assisted several medical institutions by facilitating internal conflicts and searching for options to reduce conflict.

In 2001, Joe served as facilitator for the State of Colorado, US Army and citizens groups in efforts to exchange information, increase understanding and assess options in a pre-rule making process sanctioned by the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission regarding standard setting at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, a former military munitions site.

During the period of 2000 to date, Joe have served as a facilitator among various nongovernmental organizations working in health in East African slums.

In 2000, Joe served as a facilitator and mediator for the US Institute for Environmental Dispute Resolution in a court ordered mediation of a public lands, NEPA, ESA dispute in Nevada.

Informal "pre-rule making" process to assess Superfund site standard making and options.

Identifying how to assess scientific data in environmental conflict.
Assessing the use of Process Design Committees or Joint Fact Finding initiatives.
